Situated along the North Devon coast in Croyde is one of our most recent and favoured private client projects that we’ve had the pleasure of designing.
With panoramic sea views of the bay, we had to create a design that accentuated the scenery using well-placed seating and lots of light, whilst also ensuring it remained cosy and inviting for the whole family to enjoy.
Collaborating closely with our client, our design for this seaside sanctuary is a thoughtfully curated space influenced by Scandi design and minimalism.
Hallway
Nothing sets the tone for a design quite like an hallway or entranceway, and this one called for a true wow-factor so we embraced the high ceiling with a statement light and floor to ceiling artwork. To create the warm and welcoming feel our client wanted we added subtle accessories and large vases to finish the look.
In the adjoining yoga room we designed bespoke window dressings to create a tranquil and serene feel, and added complimenting décor items to continue the calm energy of the room.
Kitchen & Dining
The heart of this home is undoubtedly the kitchen where dark wood cabinetry and sleek white countertops create a striking contrast. Our goal was to add texture and depth through thoughtful styling choices.
To create a space for relaxed family breakfasts, we introduced leather barstools that seamlessly blend with the sleek kitchen design while adding warmth and texture.
Maximising natural light and embracing the stunning Cornish views, we designed a cosy window seat with a mix of earthy textures and tones, making it the perfect informal retreat.
For discreet yet stylish lighting over the island, we selected matte black minimalist pendant lights, adding a subtle touch of modern industrial charm.
The dining table continues the aesthetic seamlessly, with its softly rounded stone-top lending a sculptural feel that enhances the warmth and elegance of the space.
Living Room
In this inviting living space a large family sofa anchors the room, while retro-inspired chairs – as requested by our client – add a relaxed, lived-in feel.
The hidden TV feature wall in dark wood grounds the scheme whilst keeping it sleek, Curated accessories add personality to the room and a plush rug creates softness and defines the space.
Bedroom
This bedroom design embraces neutral tones and rich textures, striking the perfect balance between modern minimalism and soft, earthy hues to create a warm and tranquil retreat.
Every detail has been meticulously curated, from the upholstered headboard to the soft, cosy bedding, ensuring a layered, textural look.
Natural light floods the room through a large window, showcasing breath taking views across the bay. To reinforce the connection to nature, plants are placed throughout, complementing the neutral palette and enhancing the organic aesthetic.
Opposite the bed, a striking feature wall appears to float, further emphasizing the sense of calm and tranquillity. This wall serves as a focal point, housing the TV while statement lighting frames the space symmetrically, adding a touch of elegance.
Continuing the floating elements, we incorporated a sleek dressing table at the client’s request, designed to complement the rest of the space. Featuring a refined mirror, an upholstered stool, and a pair of striking light fittings, it blends functionality with sophistication.
Above the bedside tables, marbled stone pendant lamps seamlessly blend with the room’s warm tones, contributing to a clean and uncluttered design.
Upstairs Lounge
On the top floor of the property, our client envisioned a stylish and sociable bar and lounge where family and friends could relax and unwind.
Maximizing the sunset views from the large window was a key priority, so we configured the seating to enhance this experience. A large corner sofa provides ample comfort, complemented by Danish-inspired armchairs to achieve a mid-century Scandi aesthetic.
The dark wood cabinetry and open shelving serve as the room’s focal point, enhanced by ambient lighting and rich textures that add warmth and depth.
A matte black dining table and coffee table contribute to the sleek, modern aesthetic, while leather dining chairs and luxury accents elevate the overall look.
To add personality, we incorporated sculptural vases, books, and carefully curated decorative elements.
